“I just put up a website. But how do I let people know my website exists?” “How do I rank at the top in Google search?” Have you ever asked yourself these questions? The answer to this is online marketing! There are different ways to market your website online. But before you continue reading, if you’re thinking this is a step-by-step how-to article on marketing your site online then you’re barking on the wrong blog. I’m here to talk about Organic SEO and PPC advertising. These two online marketing strategies have been long debated by SEO experts and the like which is really the best. Is it the slow and steady organic SEO or is the quick PPC advertising? Or is it the combination of both campaigns?

Organic SEO can be considered as the “natural” way of online marketing. It is optimizing your page with the use of different methods which are considered White Hat methods. White Hat methods include using keywords, backlinking, crosslinking, and link building to improve link popularity to name a few. On the other hand, PPC or pay per click advertising is a method in which you pay a set amount every time someone clicks on your ad, hence pay per click.

There are a lot of pros and cons for both sides. One major reason why you should opt for organic SEO is that people tend to choose organic search engine results over paid ads. Another is that more users believe that organic results are more relevant than that of paid results, which then builds the trust level for organic results. Others even think of these ads as a nuisance. The downside however, is that the results of this campaign is not immediate. It may take months to get a steady traffic flow in your site. It may take time but it can prove lasting results tho. While organic SEO may takes time and patience, you can quickly “buy” your way to the top of search engine results with pay per click. With even just a small budget you can get fast results in no time. Pay per click campaigns are easier to control too. Compared to organic SEO, you don’t need to hire a middle man to use PPC advertising. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing can offer you helpful and easy-to-understand tutorials on how to use PPC advertising.

Organic SEO obviously has a distinct advantage over PPC advertising. However if your pockets are overflowing with cash, why not use both? You can maximize online marketing with organic SEO campaign running in tandem with PPC campaign. But if you really have to choose just one, analyze first your situation and pick which is best for you.
